Ian Grell looks intently up at the actions of the actors and actresses. “He is always willing to do whatever I need him to do and he has a fun personality,” said Megan Cavanaugh. Grell, who is Cornerstone freshman, is the assistant stage manager for Cornerstone’s musical Into The Woods. This is his first time being an assistant stage manager. Cavanaugh is taking Grell under her wing as she is the stage manager for the musical.

Sherry Lee Allen choreographs the dances that are done. It is necessary for the actors to be precise with their moves so they are all in sync. Freshmen, sophomores, juniors and seniors all take part in the play.
Throughout each rehearsal, Cavanaugh pays close attention to what is happening on stage. As seen in the picture, Cavanaugh takes notes of improvements and where props should be placed while the direct Jennifer Hunter watches the cast.

Actor and Cornerstone freshman Aaron Guest helps Cavanaugh attach a piece of wood to the platform on March 26, 2010. “Some of the set and props have been a challenge,” Cavanaugh said. The drills not working or some props breaking is an occurrence that is never welcomed by the theatre department, but is sometimes seen.

Cavanaugh answers a question from a student, during a break in the rehearsal. The stage is constantly full of actors, whether they are reciting lines or running on and off stage. However, in the house of the theatre, it is often bare.

Set building can cause a little bit of chaos, but Cavanaugh still manages to find time to smile and laugh with friends.

Cavanaugh sits with Lauren Root as they discuss some aspects of their life. One of the goals of the theatre department has is to create friendships and bonds. As a way of doing so, on March 2, 2010, Lisa Hunter had the actors and managers to take part in an activity where they sit and share with someone else about their life and goals

Attendance is taken at every practice. However, instead of having the director calling out names, students must sign-in on a Call Board. One of Cavanaugh’s responsibilities is to put up or take down items. Besides the sign-in sheet, the Call Board features the schedule, quotes and any special announcements.

Many people take a liking to Cavanaugh’s happy personality. Even when Cavanaugh has to gather pieces of wood for the set build, a smile is still found on her face.
